Every advantage has a half-life.
Welcome to Enterprise Half-Life, a fortnightly letter for the people building and selling enterprise technology, written from both sides of the table.
In enterprise technology, nothing holds its edge for long. Products get matched. Positioning gets copied. Moats fill in. The playbook that won the last cycle quietly stops working, usually before anyone notices. AI is shortening every one of those clocks.
Enterprise Half-Life is about what’s decaying, what lasts, and how to build an advantage that holds.
Who it’s for
It’s written for the people building and selling enterprise technology: founders and CEOs, and the product, marketing and go-to-market leaders whose job is to win and keep the enterprise buyer.
Why it’s different
Most writing about this market comes from one side of the table. This comes from both.
I spent my early career on the buyer’s side, as an enterprise IT leader and then as a consultant working alongside CIOs. Then I spent a decade as an industry analyst researching what made enterprise software companies successful. Most recently, I was President of SymphonyAI’s Enterprise IT division, an enterprise SaaS business building AI-powered service and asset management software for IT organizations. I led nearly 300 people across 20 countries and carried the business through a carve-out to a completed sale.
So I write about the market as an operator, not an observer. And I keep a light on the CIO across the table: what they’re actually dealing with, what they believe, and what your pitch sounds like from their chair.
You’ll get candid field notes, drawn from real situations (always anonymized). Specific positions, not market surveys. And the occasional observation that a piece of conventional wisdom has quietly expired.
About me
I’m Charles Araujo. Today I help enterprise software companies grow, working across innovation and product strategy, positioning and go-to-market, and executive engagement with the buyer. I’m the author of three books and hundreds of articles.
Enterprise Half-Life was previously The DX Report. If you subscribed to that, you’re in the right place, and the CIO’s view isn’t going anywhere.
